DIRector, Physiotherapist, trainer and triathlon junkie

What got you into health and fitness?

A friend of mine at Uni was cycling mad and competing at the time.  He passed on this obsession onto me.  This developed into competing at olympic distance, half ironman and ironman triathlons.  Exercise and health has become a lifestyle, rather than a chore for me.

What inspires you?

Surrounding myself with motivated driven people.  Watching people close to me succeed helps to drive me to success.

What is your favourite food and exercise?

Food: Peanut butter, espressos and the occasional treatie!! Everything in moderation, I say.

Exercise: Anything aerobic.  Swimming, Cycling, running and any lung burner metcon workouts in the box.

Tarryn KeepTArryn reardon

Naturopath, Trainer, yogi, and the real boss

What got you into health and fitness?

I was unwell constantly whilst travelling, and when I came home to NZ to good food and exercise it turned my health around very simply. Being aware of different genetic predispositions if I don’t look after myself made me really conscious to look after myself as best as I can to ensure I am living in optimal health and feeling great everyday.

What inspires you?

People who are driven to succeed in whatever they enjoy, and those who don’t give up on chasing their goals of achieving the best health they can.

What is your favourite food and exercise?

I would have to say that my smoothies are my favourite food, that and broccoli soup on a cold day (freak!), oh and I would be lying if I didn’t say chocolate.

What’s your favourite health 101 commandment?

#8 take time each day to breathe. We get so caught up in the little things in life that we don’t give our body a chance to stop and catch up on itself.

What’s got you into health and fitness?

Growing up, my days were always filled with sport and activities. Health and Fitness was almost engrained into me from a young age, I love being active and healthy, and making a career related to that seemed like the perfect option.

What inspires you?

Seeing peers and people around me work hard to achieve extraordinary things.

What’s your favourite food and exercise?

Is it naughty to say Icecream? Anything Icecream related has me drooling. And gherkins- I LOVE gherkins!

My favourite exercise is probably a Snatch. Nothing beats the feeling of hitting a heavy Snatch!

What got you into health and fitness?

I had a few health issues in my teens that made me become more aware of the importance of looking after my body. Around that time I discovered a health book in the local op-shop, and through reading this I realised that simple diet and lifestyle changes could make such a huge difference to my health. After that I was hooked! I went on to complete eight years of study – from human sciences to naturopathy, nutrition and medical herbalism, before going into practice as a Naturopath. The learning never stops and I feel so fortunate to love every minute of what I do!

What inspires you?

Anything and everything health related inspires me! As anyone who knows me will tell you, food and health are my favourite topics.

Helping people to overcome their health challenges and seeing their joy as their energy and wellbeing improve is simply the best inspiration!

What is your favourite food and exercise?

You just can’t beat a great big mixed leafy green salad exploding with delicious fresh veggies, avocado, and warm lightly boiled free range eggs. It’s so simple, but hits the spot perfectly. The secret is in the dressing – it HAS to be a good dressing.  For exercise, I love yoga, swimming and netball.

Kirsten peterson

Physiotherapist, acupuncturist, yogini

What got you into health and fitness?

A natural belief in a healthy, well and active body as well as a desire to understand how we function as a whole.

What inspires you?

Generally: courage, kindness and authenticity. People who dare go against the stream for a thing they believe in, who challenge the status quo and who are willing to keep learning throughout life

What is your favourite food and exercise?

Food: fresh and made with love.

Exercise: yoga and anything fun. Too often as adults we forget that exercise doesn’t have to be a structured activity, and how healing it is to have fun and get silly like we used to as kids. I advocate more dancing, cart wheeling, climbing things and moon hopper bouncing!

BHSc – Physiotherapy

PGCert – Western Acupuncture

What got you into health and fitness?

When I was 12 I had a huge growth spurt and went from the shortest in the class to the tallest within a  year and was left with these gangly limbs I didn’t know what to do with so my mum threw me into every type of sport hoping I would get some co-ordination and thank goodness something stuck!

What inspires you?

Unwavering passion for what you do. I’ve always loved to see people striving for that extra 2%

What is your favourite food and exercise?

Food-can I say everything? I’m a big fan of anything slow cooked and have a wicked sweet tooth, but I love cooking and baking so once I try it in a restaurant, I’ve got to try make it at home.

Exercise- I’ve been a dancer for a really long time, and will always have love for it; I am still currently competing in Ballroom. I love all kinds of exercise, especially a good session with loud music and lots of laughter.

Bachelor of Dance (AUT)

Bachelor of Chiropractic (NZCC)

What got you into health & fitness?

Work(and being a little overweight).  I know that sounds funny but some people from work started out doing Logan’s FAF bootcamps, and I thought that sounds like it could be okay.  Jumped on board with it, regretted it big time to begin with, well my body did anyways, being on the larger side back then.  But looking back now, I don’t regret a day of getting wet or dirty trudging around Mt Eden and the domain.

What inspires you?

Seeing the same faces each morning turning up to class, all knowing that they are about to put themselves through hell, yet they come back the next day with a big smile.

What is your favourite food and exercise?

Oh depends what type of food you’re referring too.  CHOCOLATE(mmmm chocolate), dining out – Thai.  Well you know me, I love to do anything CrossFit, so that’s my favourite exercise.
